Overall very good.
Rod Stewart is still a top-notch entertainer! A really good fun show overall was his performance on July 28, 2009. Rod still has a lot of energy despite not being a young buck anymore, and you can tell he's having a good time on stage. He doesn't just stand around when the focus is on other performers on the stage; Rod's still dancing, flirting, and having fun. He had stage hands tossing him soccer balls through two songs (that were all autographed by Rod) and tossing (or kicking) them out to the audience, even in the lower levels. He probably put out more than 30 balls. Women are still swooning and tossing undies on stage, and guys were holding onto and/or dancing with their gals. Rod's lineup was a great list of some Motown and his standard hits. The sound of the full band overpowered him during most of the songs, making it hard to hear his voice well, a notable issue that both my wife and I noticed. Not sure if Rod's voice was weak and not projecting well, or if he's a bit hoarse, or if the sound equipment controllers weren't mixing the sound correctly, but Rod's voice was muffled and he was overpowered by the music. You could understand him well when he did sing without, or with little instrumentation, but maybe still a bit weak in the voice. There didn't seem to be any problems with any of the other singers coming across. Everyone had a good time, and this was a great concert all in all. His opening act 'The Kin' really did a great job and won over the audience. My wife, who is the main Rod Stewart fan, has now seen him three times to her twice through odd circumstances.
